Brian was a dear friend to my father and myself when we lived in Exeter in the early 70's. We all enjoyed listening to music of Sinatra, Crosby, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, Elvis and all 40's and 50's popular music. Brian loved to perform a very entertaining impression of Bing Crosby's flat footed singing style.
I loved going with Brian to his pub in Topsham and was welcomed by all. His mother and father were always a delight and I was welcomed in their home and served great Sunday dinners many times.
As a twenty something American in the early 1970's, this was my very fortunate experience to the ways and traditions of English life that I cherish to this day. Brian was always eager to show off his beloved part of the world to us. He was indeed a Devon and Cornwall ambassador and true friend. His generous nature was something he shared so naturally.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing and now wish we had been in closer contact these many years.
To those he left behind, know that he too will live in my memory and heart.
